Afia completed her master’s degree in psychology at Leeds Beckett University. Other qualifications include BA honours degree, counselling diploma, mental health awareness, clinical supervision, team leading and teacher training. Afia has also over the years undertaken various different training that includes: motivational interviewing, dual diagnosis, general anxiety management, OCD, suicide first aid, fertility, trauma informed approach, drugs & alcohol awareness, gender identities, perinatal mental health, mindfulness, domestic abuse, mental health advocacy, Understanding mental health, sexual violence and more. Afia is always committed to learning and developing for the benefit of herself and others and always strive for excellence.

Afia has many years experiences as a therapist which was acquired in various different settings such as women centres, substance addictions, cancer support, fertility & abortion, education settings, LGBTQ services, marriage/ relationship guidance, bereavement services, and more. She has worked for private, statutory, voluntary and charity organisations. Afia has substantially worked in mental health services supporting with people experiencing mental health distress/ crisis. Specialisms include trauma, bereavement, substance addictions, and mental health.

Afia is accredited with the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BACP) and has been a long-standing member and committed to their professional code of ethics. She is immensely passionate about her work and feels it’s a privilege supporting people with their personal matters. Afia practises as an integrative therapist as it allows to diversify techniques, theories/ models in accordance with individual needs/presentations. Afia’s core belief is that everyone is an individual and unique; therefore techniques/ theories or approach must be adapted accordingly.

Afia is person centred and committed to equality, fairness and respect for others. She believes that everyone can benefit from support at times, to have the opportunity to tell their story and be heard without judgement.
