Dr Nahla Jamil

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Nahla holds a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Baghdad. She has passed examinations to become a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2010. She is a registered medical practitioner and a registered medical specialist in General Adult Psychiatry. She is approved under Section 12.2 of the Mental Health Act 1983. Since 1993 she has been a Consultant Psychiatrist.

With extensive experience in general psychiatry and its subspecialties, Dr. Nahla specializes in areas such as psychiatric intensive care, eating disorders, community psychiatry, rehabilitation, and acute inpatient care. Since December 2022, she has worked as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Llanarth Court Hospital. She has a particular interest in trauma work and the treatment of mental illnesses, including bipolar and psychotic disorders. She also maintains a medico-legal practice focused on psychiatric assessments for family courts, education, and civil litigation. Additionally, Dr. Nahla served as an assessor and supervisor for the General Medical Council for many years and has provided medical expert testimony in civil cases for over two decades.
